Distance learning: Municipality of Guarda will deliver 200 computers to needy students
The Municipality of Guarda acquired, by purchase or rental, about 200 computers that it will distribute to secondary school students in the municipality. The investment in equipment purchased alone was around 400 euros for each unit, the president, Carlos Chaves Monteiro, reveals to Radio. The municipality carried out, in collaboration with the school groups, the needs, taking into account the number of students without computer means to access the distance learning platforms. The municipality’s priority is the delivery of computers and internet access to students at both high school levels who are included in the social support ranks. Carlos Chaves Monteiro estimates that there are more than 150 students in these conditions and that for this reason they will be the first to receive the computer equipment, and the Chamber may then expand the offer.
